Can you imagine? Talbert Black, December 6, 2011 What would it be like to live in the freest state in the nation? What are you willing to do to make it true? It is time to stand up and be counted! I am blessed to have been involved in advancing South Carolina toward that goal over the last three years. I am convinced that without the research provided by the South Carolina Policy Council those moves toward living in the freest state would never have come. It was the Policy Council that told us that legislators were voting off the record 95% of the time. Because of that information, we demanded, and got legislation that required recorded voting! The Policy Council provided research that was critical in the decision by the Governor’s committee to refuse to recommend implementation of the ObamaCare Health Care Exchange. It was the Policy Council that alerted me to the mammoth expansion of government control through the I-95 Corridor Authority. We are well on our way to flipping enough votes to sustain the veto of that boondoggle. I cannot overstate the critical role the Policy Council’s research has played in making South Carolina more transparent, accountable, and free than we were just a few short years ago. As great as our successes have been, we don’t have the time to sit back and relax. There is much yet to be done! Because of the Policy Council’s research, we now know the Governor is required to submit a detailed budget, and the House and Senate are supposed to consider that budget in open, joint hearings! You and I know that’s never been done – legislative leaders write their favor-filled spending plan in secret, and only one governor in the last decade has submitted a detailed budget outlining state priorities. We still need to force the General Assembly to create the state’s budget using the transparent, open, and accountable process outlined by law. We still need to eliminate our state’s obscene dependence on the whims of Washington DC’s spending habits. We have yet to reign in the out of control power of the General Assembly. And we haven’t even made a dent in the annual $1 billion in secretly orchestrated tax incentives doled out by the General Assembly. And that’s just the beginning! It’s a lot to do! But I have seen what the dedicated men and women of South Carolina can do when their action is based on the solid research of the Policy Council. We can make South Carolina the freest state in the nation! Recently, I meet with Ashley Landess, president of the Policy Council. We discussed what South Carolina can be if the barriers to freedom are removed. Can you imagine what it will be like to live in the most free state in the nation? That is what I want! I know you do, too! The Policy Council has taken up the call to make South Carolina the most free state in the nation and has drawn up the policy outline to make it so! They will do the research; we will implement the changes! But, in order to make it happen, the Policy Council needs the resources… which means they need you! Joining the Patriots Club is our opportunity to provide them the resources they need. What are you willing to do to live in the most fee state in the nation? Will you hold your legislator accountable for implementing sound policy changes? Will you hold your fellow activists accountable for supporting those policy changes? Will you hold yourself accountable to know what needs to be done? The Policy Council has committed to making available to you all the goings-on at the state house that affect the goal of living in the most free state in the nation! Will you to commit to using the information to make it happen? The Patriots Club is for those who are willing to take up that charge. The South Carolina Policy Council has created the Patriots Club as an exclusive organization for those of us who are willing to make the commitment of our time, talent and treasure to live in the freest state in America. I have joined the Patriots Club. Will you? Click here to read The Patriots Club Declaration. In order to join the Patriots Club, not only must you pledge to hold your politicians, your fellow activists, and yourself accountable for making South Carolina the freest state in the nation, you must commit to financially supporting that goal as well. As I said, the Policy Council will need resources in order to do the necessary research and publish the results. They get no government money… they survive completely through donor support. In order to have the needed staff and tools to support our goal of making South Carolina the freest state, the Policy Council needs 1000 dedicated South Carolinians to send in their $100 membership fee before the end of the year. Although that may be a large amount for some of us, consider what our nation’s founders gave. It is not yet required that we give all, as they did. Hopefully we will never reach the point where we must give all to protect our freedom. Can I count on you to help make South Carolina the most free state in the nation? Will you join me as a member of the Patriots Club today? Click here to join the truly dedicated. If we can get those 1,000 members, The Policy Council will bring us together next legislative session to march over to the Statehouse and deliver our agenda to elected officials in person! Just imagine the look on the faces of the politicians when 1000 dedicated South Carolinians march to the Statehouse demanding liberty and freedom! The faster we commit to the Patriots Club, the faster we can deliver that moment of awareness to all elected officials! I can’t wait! Read The Patriots Club Declaration by clicking here! Join today! Don’t delay! For the freest state, Talbert Black, Jr. Palmetto Liberty PAC P.S. The research provided by the South Carolina Policy Council has been critical in making our state more transparent, accountable, and free in just a few short years. But there is much yet to be done. The Policy Council needs our support and we need their research! Join the dedicated people of South Carolina as a member of the Patriots Club today!
